Custom orthotics are individually prescribed in-shoe devices designed to support, align and offload your feet, based on a detailed assessment of how your feet and legs actually move. At Blueprint Podiatry in Tuggerah, every orthotic is 3D scanned and 3D printed in-house — patient-matched for your left and right foot — so your device reflects your unique biomechanics, not a generic mould.
What Are Custom Orthotics?
Unlike off-the-shelf insoles, custom orthotics are made specifically for your feet to help manage pain, improve function and support better movement. They can be prescribed to redistribute pressure, control excessive motion (such as overpronation or supination), accommodate structural differences and support recovery from injury.

How Blueprint Podiatry Assesses and Designs Your Orthotics
Our team of three registered podiatrists each holds a Bachelor of Podiatry, training in Foot Mobilisation Therapy, and Level 1 Running Coach certification — so your gait and running mechanics are assessed by clinicians who genuinely understand movement.
Your assessment is objective, not guesswork. We use:
- Weightbearing 3D scanning to capture the true shape of your feet under load.
- Force-platform gait analysis on our Zebris instrumented treadmill, measuring plantar pressure, ground-reaction force and centre-of-pressure while you walk and run.
- VALD dynamometer testing to objectively measure muscle strength and range of motion, helping set baselines and track progress.
Using this data, your orthotics are designed in 3D CAD software and 3D printed in-house — meaning your patient-matched left and right devices are produced without the delay of an external lab. We'll also discuss your footwear, lifestyle and goals so your orthotics fit your day-to-day life.
When Should I Seek Help?
It's worth booking an assessment if you have ongoing foot, heel, ankle or leg pain, recurring injuries, changes to how you walk or run, or foot concerns related to diabetes or arthritis. Early assessment helps us identify what's driving the issue and tailor the right approach for you.

Frequently asked questions
Are your orthotics really made in-house?
Yes. We 3D scan your feet under load and 3D print your custom devices in-house using 3D CAD software, avoiding the wait associated with external orthotic labs.
Do I definitely need orthotics if I have foot pain?
Not necessarily. Orthotics are one option among many. After a thorough assessment, our podiatrists will recommend what suits you — which may include footwear changes, strengthening, foot mobilisation or other treatments alongside, or instead of, orthotics.
Can I claim orthotics or my appointment through private health or Medicare?
We offer HICAPS on-the-spot claiming for private health, and accept Medicare EPC referrals (a small gap applies — we don't bulk bill). We also accept DVA Gold and White cards and NDIS (self- and plan-managed). Our reception team can talk you through what applies to you.
