General Podiatry
General podiatry & nail care in Tuggerah on the Central Coast. Corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, fungal nails, diabetic foot checks & more.
What is general podiatry and nail care?
General podiatry (also called routine foot care) is the regular, professional care of your feet and toenails — including the treatment of corns, calluses, thickened or fungal nails, ingrown toenails and everyday foot discomfort. Think of it as a regular check-up for your feet, much like seeing a dentist for your teeth or an optometrist for your eyes.
At Blueprint Podiatry in Tuggerah, our podiatry team provides general and routine foot and nail care for patients of all ages, helping you stay comfortable, mobile and confident on your feet.
Why routine foot care matters
Your feet carry you through every step of your day, yet they're often the last part of the body we think about. Regular podiatry care helps detect and manage small problems before they become bigger ones — particularly important if you have diabetes, reduced circulation, or simply find it difficult to reach or trim your own nails.
Common reasons Central Coast patients book a general podiatry appointment include:
- Corns and calluses — areas of hard, thickened skin caused by pressure or friction
- Ingrown toenails — where the nail edge presses into the surrounding skin
- Thickened or difficult-to-trim nails — including age-related changes
- Fungal nail concerns — discoloured, brittle or crumbling nails
- Warts and other skin conditions affecting the feet
- Diabetic foot checks — assessing circulation, sensation and skin health
- General foot pain or discomfort
- Footwear advice suited to your activity and foot type
- Preventative care to keep your feet healthy long term
How Blueprint Podiatry assesses and treats your feet
Every appointment begins by listening to your concerns and reviewing your foot and general health history. Our three registered podiatrists each hold a Bachelor of Podiatry, so you can be confident your care is delivered by university-qualified professionals.
Depending on your needs, your care may include:
- Professional debridement (safe reduction) of corns and calluses
- Careful trimming and reduction of thickened or problem nails
- Assessment and management of ingrown toenails — including partial nail avulsion (nail surgery) for recurrent cases
- Fungal nail and skin condition assessment and management
- Diabetic foot assessments, checking circulation, nerve sensation and skin integrity
- Personalised footwear and self-care advice
Because our podiatrists are also certified running coaches, we're well placed to look beyond the immediate problem — if a corn, callus or recurring nail issue is linked to how you walk or load your feet, we can discuss biomechanical factors and options such as custom orthotics, which we 3D scan and 3D print in-house.
When should you see a podiatrist?
Book an appointment if you have foot pain, a corn or callus that keeps returning, a painful or inflamed nail, changes in nail colour or thickness, or if you have diabetes and haven't had a foot check recently. If you find trimming your own nails difficult or uncomfortable, routine podiatry care can make a real difference to your day-to-day comfort.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I have a general podiatry appointment?
It depends on your individual needs. Many patients book routine care every 6–8 weeks, while others come less frequently. If you have diabetes, reduced circulation or recurring nail problems, your podiatrist will recommend a schedule that suits you.
Can you treat an ingrown toenail at Blueprint Podiatry?
Yes. For many ingrown toenails, conservative care can help relieve the problem. For painful or recurrent cases, we offer nail surgery (partial nail avulsion) performed in our Tuggerah clinic. Your podiatrist will talk through the most suitable option for you.
Do you offer diabetic foot care?
Yes. We provide diabetic foot assessments that check your circulation, nerve sensation and skin health, along with ongoing routine care to help manage your foot health. Regular checks are an important part of looking after your feet if you live with diabetes.
